Knorr-Bremse
Knorr-Bremse is the world-wide leading manufacturer of brakes for rail- and commercial vehicles and supplies automotive manufacturers as well as wholesalers in the automotive parts aftermarket.
Before the joint project, distributors’ orders were arrived at the Knorr-Bremse office via Fax or Telephone. Employees had to type in several thousand line items into the ERP-System – a time-consuming work with cumbersome procedures. The continuous electronic order transmission was to aid and cooperate with the the customer’s ERP-Systems. Subsequent processes like order responses, despatch advices and invoices had to be integrated as well.
CONXPERT decided to use an Electronic Ordering System (EOS). This included an Online Ordering system (e-Shop) with an electronic parts catalogue for customers without an EPR-Connection and also an EDI-Platform for system integrated (ClassicEDI) processes. The system was provided by CONXPERT in 14 languages worldwide and manages processes from 120 countries. In the first quarter of 2008, more than 500 customers were working with in the EOS, about 2.500 used the offer of the Online-Catalogue.
The shop functionality includes, among others, a sophisticated parts-search that includes a stock check, express order functionality, linkage from details pages to alternative parts as well as replacement and succession parts. In addition, a specific Online-Shop for the US-American Knorr-Bremse subsidiary company, BENDIX, was implemented. The implementation was created with an individual corporate design while using different or partially modified functionalities. Gradually, the ClassicEDI-Connection began – beginning with the most important customers with the highest turnover..
Knorr-Bremse benefits significantly from these measures: Without the manual input, process costs decrease notably and, at the same time, the process quality and the customer satisfaction increases considerably. Benefit: Through the EOS, Knorr-Bremse obtains a central source for the demand-oriented distribution of product information.
Conclusion: Conclusion: The efficient EOS leads to growth in customer- and sales volume that can be proven. Additional process related functionalities in the portal like the complex parts-search including stock check, the express order functionality and the additional marketing possibilities through the intelligent linkage of the products increase the additional values for Knorr-Bremse significantly.
