Ihr Platz
The Ihr Platz consortium with its headquarter in Osnabruck, is among the leading companies of the Chemist branch in Germany. The company consists of nearly 800 Ihr Platz- and drospa-subsidiaries as well as 85 Ihr Platz-franchise marts.
In the past, the exchange of business documents proved difficult due to the supplier’s very different company sizes, the varying means of communication and media breakages. The electronic connection of smaller suppliers was, in many cases, not possible,because these suppliers rarely were in possession of the computer technology needed for the connection.
By using an invitation to bid in the internet, Ihr Platz searched for the suitable service provider to solve the problem – CONXPERT prevailed with the best cost-performance offer. CONXPERT’s concept to meet the involved business partners’ demands and requirements, instead of imposing means of communication or data formats upon them.
In the beginning of the joint project, the development of the WebEDI-Portal was the main concern; ClassicEDI innovations would follow. Because use of the Web-Portal only required a web browser, this first measure obtained a high acceptance: In the following months, over 100, mostly small suppliers, were connected to the portal. This enabled the subsidiaries to send orders to the suppliers electronically.
To offer the Ihr Platz-suppliers a high degree of useability, CONXPERT used the Central for Co organisation’s (CCG, now GS1 Germany) proposals for the unification of EDI-Portals. Of the 350 central warehouse suppliers, more than half receive their orders via ClassicEDI, the remainder is handled via WebEDI.
Conclusion: Because of these measures, the order management improved lastingly. The central warehouses were relieved because the stock could be reduced gradually. In the next step, suppliers’ despatch advices and invoices were sent via EDI as well. Depending on the possibilities of the business partner, individual or all message types may be activated. With this CONXPERT designed the client’s orders processing management to be more economical.
This development also has the effect, that, only a few weeks after the start of the implementation, many of the suppliers were connected via ClassicEDI. Ihr Platz’s commercial benefit from the holistic integration with the circa 300 suppliers could be proven.
