  • A
    • Advanced electronic signature
Legal term for an electronic signature with certain safety precautions. An advanced signature is to be created with a unique – thus practically secret – signature key, which has to be available to the signature-creator during the creation of the signature and has to be created by means that the creator has sole access to. In addition the signature-creator must be identifiable if required. Because the signature must not necessarily be created with a cryptographic key and a certificate the signature law deems this kind of signature as not sufficient for the replacement of the written form.

      FTP
A system for the transmission of data by exactly defined guidelines. Encryption is possible per designation. (FTPS = high encryption level).
      HTTP
Globally most popular system for the transmission of data. Encryption is possible per designation (HTTPS = high encryption level also used by banks)

By using a comprehensive table the items of other vendors (item numbers, order numbers) are compared to the own items and the comparable own products are displayed.
    • Cryptography
A clearly readable text is transformed into an illegible text by utilising a cryptographic technique. Only possessors of the corresponding key may read the text.

    • Simple electronic signature
The essential form of electronic signature. The simple signature allows drawing a conclusion about the creator of the signature, but no safety precautions exists that ensure the correctness. This is the case, for example, for a signing that is scanned and sent via E-Mail. Finally any third person, who is in possession of a corresponding original or an E-Mail signed in this way, can copy and use the signature. Legally a simple signature has nearly no value.

Technically the electronic signature fulfils the same purpose as a signature written personally on a paper document. Depending on how the quality and the reliability fulfil the requirements mentioned afore the signature is either called simple, advanced or qualified electronic signature.

  • Q
    • Qualified electronic signature
Safest form of the electronic signature, which, according to German Law, is the only form that can replace the written form. The signature must be based upon a qualified certificate that was valid at the time of the creation of the signature and must be created with a secure signature creation unit. The provider of the certificate (a so-called Trust Centre) has to be verified and deemed secure and reliable beforehand. A signature created in this fashion has the same legal effect as a personal signature of the certificate owner.
